Central New York and West Virginia share a geography of aftermath. Steel mills, coal mines, and industrial dairy built these regions over a century. Their decline, partial replacement, and ongoing reinvention built what is there now. Despite the decline, people stayed. They work, raise children, keep animals, and go about ordinary lives inside an economy that was built, abandoned, and is being built again around them. This project documents those lives and the landscape that holds them, where industry keeps ending and beginning at the same time.
